We create high quality products that are built to last. Everything we make is created from high fire porcelain, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again to 2300ºF. Our porcelain is fired to cone 10 bringing the clay body to a state of vitrification, meaning even without glaze water can never penetrate into the clay. Then glaze, which is essentially a layer of glass, is added on top of the vitreous porcelain giving our products superior strength and durability. Read our care tips and FAQs below to love your Indikoi piece for a long time!
POTTERY CARE
Our pottery dishware is food safe, dishwasher friendly, and can be put in the microwave as long as it doesn't heat over 185ºF. Larger bowls, platters, and vases should be washed by hand with mild soap and water. Decorative pottery can be dusted or wiped down with lightly damp cloth when needed. We do not recommend putting our pottery dishware in the oven. Similar to glass, ceramic is prone to thermal shock if heated too hot or cooled too quickly.
Crazing is a network of fine lines that can sometimes occur with ceramics. It's quite common and because our clay body is vitrified and non-porous it will not affect the function or structure of the piece.
We often get asked if our sinks are fragile because they are handmade? No, quite the opposite they are high fire porcelain and suitable for busy families, commercial applications, and all types of settings. The care of our sinks is quite simple. No special cleaning products or high maintenance required. When it looks dirty, clean it! Use soft abrasive cleaners (scrubbing bubbles, soft scrub, etc.) and wipe down with a cloth or sponge when needed. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or stiff wire brushes as they may scratch or dull the surface.
Because our sinks are hand thrown they do not have an over flow. All our sinks do require a vessel drain for installation.
Our lighting is made from the same durable high fire porcelain combined with hand finished metals. We use the finest quality parts and components to complete the lighting experience. Our lamp shades are custom made in the USA from designer linens. Feather dust or wipe down porcelain with lightly damp soft cloth when needed. Dry dust or lint roll the shade when needed.
Yes. We use high quality porcelain and high fire it to a state vitrification making it extremely strong and non-porous. Unlike many stonewares and low fire clay bodies, high fired porcelain will stand the test of time.
